What personal data MASP collects and why we collect it

Being a MASP member is a voluntary and paid service. Yearly memberships are from April 1st to March 31st. Upon sign-up, members are asked to provide their name, email, mailing address, phone number, name of employer, and verification for membership status (such as affiliate, student, or full membership status). Members are expected to keep their own contact information up to date via their “profile” page. Membership allows you to access privileged and private areas of the website, such as Member Only posts and pages, Board Meeting notes, listing and access to the Membership Directory, and listing on the Professionals for Private Contract page. Paying for membership online requires MASP to collect billing and payment information via Paypal.

Members may be notified by email of new posts on the website. Posts are assigned categories, and members can go onto their profile to opt-in or opt-out of post notification categories of their choice. Member’s email may also be used to forward news that has been approved by the MASP Executive Board.
Post notifications are sent to members using the Post SMTP plug-in and Google API “MASP Post Notifications”. Google APIs are sets of application programming interfaces (APIs) developed by Google which allow communication with Google Services and their integration to other services. The use of this service will greater ensure that members receive the intended email.
If a user has let their membership decline their website information will remain in their profile for two year, after which their profile will be deleted.
Both members and non-members with profiles on the MASP website will be sent emails reminding them to renew their membership as required.

Only logged-in members can leave comments on the site. The members IP address and browser user agent string are used to help spam detection. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
