Save the Date: MTS Day October 21, 2022- Best Practices in Supporting 2SLGBTQ+ Students for School Clinicians

On MTS PD Day, October 21st, 2022, MASP will be hosting a full-day virtual Professional Development presentation focused on supporting Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer+ students in the school setting.

Dr. Emily Fisher, Ph.D. will be presenting on inclusive and affirmative practices when supporting 2SLGBTQ+ students. Dr. Fisher is a professor in the department of Specialized Programs in Professional Psychology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles CA. She teaches courses in the School Psychology and Counseling programs on counseling and treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders with a focus on children and adolescents. Dr. Fisher has published extensively on school-based supports for 2SLGBTQ+ youth.

In this interactive presentation, Dr. Fisher will outline foundational concepts, indirect and direct services, provide case study examples, and discuss advocacy when supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth in schools.

The last part of the day will include a presentation from the Rainbow Resource Centre (Winnipeg) describing local resources available for students, families, and school teams.
